Drip (that good old pot of joe)
Ok, we've all had that cup of coffee from the office or Grandma's friend's house or wherever else that just makes you brace for pain while you pour that cup of black acid into your cup for a very needed and dreaded pick me up. No matter how much sugar or cream you dump into it, it still just makes your face do that thing when you swallow something you really shouldn't be. Well, a pot of coffee doesn't have to turn out that way. So, here's what we suggest if you are gonna make a pot of drip coffee. First things first, the grind. Using a burr grinder to grind a little larger than table salt consistency and right before you brew it will greatly improve your brew. Next, ratio of coffee to water. We like using a 15:1 ratio of water to coffee. This means for a 6 cup brew size, you should be using around 60grams of freshly roasted and freshly ground coffee. Finally, doing a little empty coffee basket run through of water through your machine will get everything nice and hot before you brew. This should do the trick and will hopefully turn that pain face into an mmmmm face when you take a sip.
